BigNugg BBQ co was born in April of 2001. I decided that day to try my hand at making BBQ sauce. Myself, being a culinary school graduate, I understood the basic components of various types of sauces, and on this day Q sauce was born. Allthough several batches were required to achieve the sauce it is today. My interest in BBQ I owe to my father. As a newly graduated member of the culinary arts my father had reminded me that just because I had learn the art of cooking in a kitchen, I still couldnt BBQ a good steak! This sparked the drive that got me curious to learn the art of BBQ. An artform you ask? Taking a piece of meat that is not normally a desired cut of meat, and turning that into something that people would drive for miles just to taste is truly an artform in my opinion. Needless to say after years of practicing, lots of mistakes and proud moments, it has truly become my passion.

After the concept of Q sauce was developed, and hundreds of samples were handed out to friends and family, is when I realized through feedback that allthough Q sauce was a hit, a strong majority also wanted a spicier option. At first I had thought of developing 2 types of dry rubs, a mild & spicy, so consumers would be able to use 1 sauce to please everyone. I developed the Southwest Chipotle Q Sauce and the response was overwhelming. Not only was the demand for the new sauce at such a high level, the prior demand for the original Q sauce had grown also. After nearly 5 years of market research and the addition of Spices & Stuff, my all purpose dry rub, it was clear that it was time to take the next step.

In May of 2006, I rounded up a few of my close friends and decided to try out the competition circuit. Our 1st competition was a huge success. Not only did we learn so much from other fellow competitors, but we formed new relationships & friendships with a group of people who share the passion & love for BBQ the way we do. It was a chance for me to see if I was ready to take my skills from the backyard to the big stage. We then knew, at this moment, the BigNugg BBQ Competiton Team was formed.

That brings us up to now, where my goal is still the same, and thats to share my passion for BBQ. From our on site catering services, vending services, retail product sales and competiton team, we hope not only to share our love for the art of BBQ, but yours as well. I personally invite you to come out and meet us at any of our events and introduce yourself, shake hands, ask a question or even share a tip or two. BBQ is about friends, family & fun!
