| June 2009 - Interesting way to cook corn |
|
Corn On The Go I came up with this method when I was cooking for my son's elementry school class, we were celebrating the end of another great school year. They had chosen a menu of Hamburgers, beans and corn on the cob. Simple and easy, except how was I to keep the corn hot? I didnt want the hazzard of boiling water around all of the kids, and I didnt want to take the time to grill it as the kids only had a certain amount of time for lunch. I had to figure out a way to keep the corn hot without overcooking it. An Ice Chest! Thats right, I cooked the corn in an ice chest. We had used ice chests several times when catering to keep food hot for long periods of time. So I put the corn in an ice chest and then poured boiling salted water into the ice chest and closed the lid. By the time I was finished cooking the hamburgers for the kids (aprox. 45 min.) the corn was ready to eat. Cooke perfectly, so now you can take corn with to any event. Cook it while your traveling to the big game, to your friends house, or even that next familly gathering. Remember to remove the husk and silk before placing in the ice chest |
